www.canstarnews.com IT'S YOUR MOVE • JULY 2018 3 By Jennifer McFee The community of La Salle continues to thrive with unprecedented growth and enhanced amenities for all to enjoy. Young families are thrilled at the addition of two new daycares with nearly 100 new spots for wee ones, including some for infants. At the same time, the school is expanding to offer a new stat-of-the-art library and technology centre, more classrooms, new offices and a brand new gymnasium. As well, the rec centre is continually adding new programs and services, and its fully equipped fitness centre has become a hub of activity. Residents enjoy accessing La Salle River for canoeing, kayaking, fishing and pontoon boating, plus snowmobiling in the winter. In addition, Kingswood Golf and Country Club attracts players from near and far. This recreational hub has undergone recent clubhouse renovations and has plans for further enhancements and improvements. A new Co-Op Grocery store recently opened in town, and there are many other amenities such as banking, restaurants, MLCC & Vendor, Gas Station, and pharmacy. In the heart of all these transformations, the Prairie View Lakes development is gaining momentum with builders and buyers alike. Spearheaded by Ventura Land Company, the visionary subdivision features the quality craftsmanship of multiple builders. Ventura Custom Homes is the largest contributor, alongside Oakley Homes, Venicia Homes, Artista Homes, KDR Design Builders and Dowalt Custom Homes. The development is now into its fifth phase, which features walkout lake lots and park- view lots— both offered for the first time in La Salle. "With a lake walkout lot, the back wall of the basement is entirely open to the backyard. We've only got two lots left for the public to buy and otherwise the builders own the remaining lots," explains Tim Comack, Vice President-Ventura Land Company Inc. "With a lookout lot, 50 per cent of the basement is below grade and 50 per cent is above so you look out through big windows at the park." Standard building lots are also available in Prairie View Lakes, which is enhanced by walking trails within the subdivision plus a large children's playground ready to be installed this summer. At the same time, progress is underway at Prairie Place, another Ventura initiative located in La Salle that has entry-level housing available for $259,900 including the lot. A show home is open, and phases 1 and 2 are already sold out. Choice lots in Phase 3 will be released on Sept. 10. "There's a lot going on in town. Our builders are actively building houses for customers. It's just getting busier and busier. The town is growing exponentially," Comack says. "It's interesting because La Salle is the next closest place to southwest Winnipeg, which is Winnipeg's most desirable quadrant of the city." An influx of new amenities now line Kenaston Boulevard up to the Perimeter, all located within a quick eight-minute drive from La Salle. "They've got all types of restaurants, shops, retail, you name it — and all of that was never there before," Comack says. "Southwest Winnipeg is filling in and it's almost built out. It's brought the amenities even closer to the Perimeter, which makes them closer to La Salle." In La Salle, homeowners can breathe easy and savour life outside the city with more space between homes, larger properties and lower taxes. "You get a much larger lot but you pay less money for it, so people are using that money to build nicer houses," Comack says. "There are a lot of advantages to living in La Salle and it's so close to the city. It's really becoming an active, thriving town." Ventura Custom Homes has recently opened their newest show home and Dowalt Homes, KDR Design Builders and Venezia are opening new show homes this fall.
