Since 2016, the architectural fabricators — a division of polyurethane processors State Industries — have been helping to improve the city's curb appeal through a line of custom-made house numbers that are both eye-catching and highly visible. Made from weather-tested recycled aluminum and available in a range of sizes, fonts and finishes, the dressy-looking digits add a contemporary flair to both newly built homes and older properties in need of a spruce-up. They also help address a particularly vexing predicament shared by anyone who's gone looking for an unfamiliar address after dark, only to be frustrated by a combination of dim streetlamps and wide lawns. "Unless you've got direct lighting on your house numbers, it can be a very difficult thing to see," says StateCraft's sales and marketing coordinator Nathan Sawatzky, who notes hard-to-see house numbers can cause headaches for everyone from cab drivers to emergency responders. "Whether you're hosting a party or whether the pizza guy is coming, good house numbers are important." With such services as custom signage and industrial waterjet cutting already under their umbrella, StateCraft got into the house-numbers game after noticing a need for alternatives to those available at big-box hardware stores. They now offer a curated line of eight- to 15-inch options in high-contrast red, black and white, as well as their most popular seller, a decidedly modern-looking brushed aluminum, which proves especially useful in low-light conditions.
