WINNIPEG MARKETPLACE • SPRING 2019 www.canstarnews.com 22 Herzing College Introduces Tuition-Free Training and Improved Online Learning Options Herzing College has announced a brand new initiative, aimed at making career training and continued professional development more affordable for students. e Herzing Open Education Program (H.O.E.P) awards financial "credits" to students that are equal to the amount they spend on a diploma program. Aer graduating, they can apply those credits to take additional courses, on- campus or online—tuition-free. Graduates can also use the credits to complete a a second diploma. Two programs for the price of one! Graduates are welcome to take as many extra courses that they want, up to the dollar value they spent on their original diploma program. is includes training programs offered through the Pre-Apprenticeship Training Institute, and Kompass Professional Development. e goal of this new initiative is to help alleviate the financial burden many students experience when trying to upgrade their skills and improve their career prospects. "e Herzing Open Education Program (H.O.E.P) is one of the most significant value-added benefits that we have ever put forward. It is consistent with our continued efforts to do everything we can to contribute to the success of every graduate and the communities we serve. We believe there should be a limit on tuition, but no limit on education," says Herzing College Canada Chief Operating Officer, Frank Cianciaruso. Alongside the H.O.E.P program, Herzing has also made strides to offer students more flexible learning options. e Flex-Ed format makes it possible for students to earn diplomas either completely online, or through a blend of online and in-class study. Flex-Ed was developed to address the needs of busy adult learners, who don't have time to attend classes on campus— and those who live too far from the college to make the daily commute. While many colleges have gotten on board with online learning, Herzing has proven itself a leader in this field, by delivering a unique blend of on-campus, online, and hybrid study options. Initiatives like Flex-Ed and H.O.E.P reflect a broader movement in education; one that promotes accessibility, better funding options, and lower student debt.
