Southwest >> Prior to the 2012 Fall Parade of Homes, few prospective new home buyers were aware that there was a new residential development on the western edge of Oak Bluff. By the time the Fall Parade concluded in early October, Oak Bluff West was no longer flying under the radar of the citys home buying public. To say the least, the enthusiastic reception was gratifying for Qualico, the communitys developer. Its a good location and I think it would be fair to say it kind of snuck up on people, says Eric Vogan, Vice-President of Qualico. Its just outside the perimeter where McGillivray Boulevard meets Highways 2 and 3. Its kind of tucked away in its own little enclave. You have to actually drive into it to get a feel for whats there. Once you do, you start to gain an appreciation for the vision of the community. From the outset, that vision was to create a community that capitalized on its location. Rural Retreat Oak Bluff West appeals to many seeking country living, urban amenities By Todd Lewys Photos by Marianne Helm 40 Parade of Homes Spring 2013 The location provided us with the opportunity to design a community that combined the warmth and openness of country life with handy access to city services, shopping and entertainment, Mr. Vogan says. At the same time, residents have access to a growing town that has services such as a service station, restaurants, a Tim Hortons, credit union and post office. Oak Bluff is just a 10-minute drive from one of the largest retail/service centres in the city (Kenaston Common). With its great location, reasonably priced lots, lower taxes and safe environment, we thought it would be a great place for growing families to put down roots, he says. Jason Jaquet of Randall Homes says Oak Bluff Wests positioning is about as good as it gets for families.
