42 SPRING 2019 RISE ATHLETICS AND WELLNESS The United Nations General Assembly created a collection of 17 global goals for the year 2030. The goal of the YEA summit is to develop and present a communiqué on behalf of all of its delegates, to be presented to the G20 leaders when they meet in June. Once the delegates return to their homes, they advocate for the communiqué they have developed and meet with local officials at the municipal and provincial levels. In the fall, organizers will be looking for delegates to reconvene and do further group work. "I'm looking forward to seeing what will come up from all of these 20 countries," says Fox. The G20 YEA invitation isn't the only feather in Fox's cap this year. In April, he and his team at Rise Athletics and Wellness received the Business Builder Award at the Winkler and District Chamber of Commerce P.W. Enns Business Awards Gala. "We maintain a safe, supporting environment, so Rise has really turned into this community of like-minded individuals, and we want the client to feel like this is their second home and that the facility is as much theirs as it is ours," he says. The company hosts potlucks, fundraising workouts and other events. "The business award gave us an opportunity for reflection and one of the things that came up was that our entire first location was the same size as what is now our client lounge," he says. "But the other really cool thing for us is that those other awards were won by businesses that are distinguished and long-standing in the community and so just sharing the stage with them was quite an honour for us all." ■ "We maintain a safe, supporting environment, so Rise has really turned into this community of like-minded individuals, and we want the client to feel like this is their second home and that the facility is as much theirs as it is ours." << CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS
