TAKE A CUE FROM LOCAL
DESIGN EXPERTS (PAGE 24),
AND THINK BIG — OR THINK
SMALL — WITH ACCENTS
SCALED TO THE SIZE OF
EVERY SPACE.
Compiled by Pat St. Germain
1. Make a big impact on a bold feature wall with splashy large-scale
stretched-canvas wall art. Selling for $250, this striking modern
piece from HomeSense (homesense.ca) is 44 inches wide and 60
inches tall, and it lives in perfect harmony with a compact velvet
daybed ($499.99), with accessories in compatible dimensions —
a ceramic vase in a coordinated shade of pink, and a metal wall
sconce with dangling lucite bling.
2. Furniture that does double duty helps
keep clutter to a minimum in tight
spots, and IKEA has teamed up with the
audio pros at Sonos to deliver a pair of
Symfonisk Wi-Fi speakers that fill that
double bill. A rectangular model going
for $149 can stand upright, sideways or
be wall-mounted to serve as a small shelf,
or you can stream music or podcasts
through a table lamp with a speaker in
the base, for $249. You'll need two for
stereo sound.
