Settle in with Gimli's Icelanders
>>The New Iceland Heritage Museum — Indulge your inner viking while celebrating the culture and perseverance of
Gimli's earliest Icelandic settlers. Exhibits span two locations: The Waterfront Centre's main in-house collection offers a
historical view of Canada's so-called New Iceland via an 18-foot mural, a painting that comes to life, and film screenings
during the town's annual Icelandic Festival in August, while the Lake Winnipeg Visitor Centre provides an interpretation
of the fishing industry's origins and natural history of Lake Winnipeg. www.nihm.ca.
