>>Belugas In The Bay: The White Whales of Churchill — Churchill in winter
may be prime polar bear territory, but in summer, it's all about the belugas, baby,
with thousands of whales flocking to the Churchill River estuary each year to
feed and give birth. Summering grounds for the largest population of belugas in
the Arctic, the waters afford plenty of opportunity to share quality time with the

Take part in the Churchill Northern Studies Centre's Belugas in the Bay course,
which offers three chances to study the so-called sea canaries up close — once by
jet boat, once by zodiac, and once under your own power by river kayak. You can
also tour the CNSC's newly-opened facility, visit nearby Prince of Wales Fort and
Cape Merry National Historic Sites, and take part in coastal hikes and evening
and informal lectures by marine biologists and local presenters. To learn more,
