FABULOUS & FUNCTIONAL
— Cont'd from page 117
"Our goal was to design a spacious,
well-appointed family home that had
the flexibility to accommodate a parent,
whether they were visiting or living there
permanently," says KDR president and chief
designer Diego Vassallo.
To that end, a wing off the kitchen has a
luxe three-piece bath and a flex room that
can be used as a bedroom or a den. The
room has a spacious closet and patio doors
that allow for privacy.
"There's also a hallway to a mudroom that
provides access to an oversized double-
attached garage. In-laws using the room
can access it through the patio doors or
from the garage."
At the front entry, a large foyer opens to
a formal dining room, with a wide hallway
leading to a spectacular great room and
kitchen. The family room has a 20-foot
ceiling, with an abundance of windows
and a linear gas fireplace set in a grey tile
surround that stretches from floor to ceiling.
The kitchen has a 10-foot ceiling and a
solarium-like informal dining area, which can
easily accommodate a table for six to 10.
Glossy two-tone cabinetry melds perfectly
with the grey-veined off-white quartz
countertops and the two-tone circular tile
on the backsplash. A large L-shaped island
houses a double sink and has comfortable
seating for four, along with plenty of
counterspace.
OUR GOAL WAS TO DESIGN A SPACIOUS, WELL-APPOINTED FAMILY
HOME THAT HAD THE FLEXIBILITY TO ACCOMMODATE A PARENT,
WHETHER THEY WERE VISITING OR LIVING THERE PERMANENTLY.
