This type of coverage is still unavailable in some high-
risk areas, and those who do qualify will pay varying
premiums depending on their location.
Sewer backup coverage has been around awhile
longer and yes, it's still relevant if you're in a brand-
new house or a high-rise condominium.
Even with a backwater valve and a sump-pit drainage
system, which new houses are required to have,
there's always a chance of failure. If your sump pump
breaks, you could come home
to a basement full of water
and an insurance dilemma.
In a condominium, a blocked
pipe can occur whether you're
on the ground or top floor,
causing water damage that
would be covered with sewer
backup insurance.
Many coverage extensions
are applicable to houses

The difference is in the
way the policies are set
up. A condominium corporation will usually cover
the building and the units, as constructed. Unit
owners are responsible for their belongings and any
improvements made to their units. The two policies
need to work together to ensure adequate coverage
in the event of a claim.

and electronics, is equipment-breakdown insurance.
