A sense of serenity surrounds the Taylor Farm community, where spacious lots allow homeowners' dreams to become a reality. Located in the RM of Headingley, Taylor Farm features stunning settings in close proximity to city conveniences. Homeowners Andy and Sarah Oliver currently live in a two-storey walkout on Fetterly Way and are looking forward to moving in October to a river lot on Curry Drive, where their new Hearth Homes abode is under construction. "We like that it's quieter than the city, and there's more space. We've been enjoying the walking paths and the neighbourhood park. There's a lot of young families here, so we're excited that our kids will have a lot of friends in close proximity," Sarah said. "The city is just a five-minute drive from Taylor Farm, so the location is still very convenient for us." The couple enjoys the large lots in Taylor Farm, which provide ample room for their kids and dog to play. "There's no shortage of space in the backyard," Andy said. "On Curry Drive, the lot is about two-thirds of an acre, with the majority of that being in the back. We're excited to fish from the backyard in the summer and skate on the river in the winter." Like the Olivers, many families enjoy the options that come with larger lots, notes Adam Wickstrom of Hearth Homes. "With the lot size, there's more freedom for where the garage can be placed," he said. "We definitely see more three-car garages or oversized two-car garages so they have extra storage space and places to store their tools." The large lots also allow for wider floor plans, particularly for bungalows. "Generally, our floor plans are pretty open, especially with the great room, kitchen and dining room area. There's more availability to play with layout of the rooms while still having that open feel," Wickstrom said. "You can also have more windows at the back of the home to look out at the sky and the big backyard, which is something I really like." Tara Reid of Qualico Communities said a selection of river lots is still available in Phase 2 of Taylor Farm, ranging from 85 to 98 feet with southwest rear yard exposure on the Assiniboine River. "Visitors to the area can see the first few homes already under construction on the river, which includes stunning designs from Irwin Homes and Hearth Homes that will be available for viewing during the Fall 2021 Parade of Homes," she said. "Qualico Communities is actively planning the next phase of servicing in Taylor Farm, which could commence as early as Fall 2021. This upcoming phase will include a variety of lot types, including a new wetland and the first wetland walkout lots in the community." As for the Oliver family, they're pleased to call Taylor Farm home — for now and for the future. "Taylor Farm is a wonderful, vibrant community that we're excited to make our permanent home," Sarah said. "It's been exciting to see the area develop over the last few years, and we can't wait to see how it continues to take shape."
