Because the homes are being built as part of a single
project, Comack says his company has been able to
leverage its buying power to offer superior interior
and exterior finishes that you might not normally find
in homes with a similar price point, such as transom
windows that provide more ambient natural light.
One of the more interesting design elements is that
none of the units share a common wall. Instead, two
separate walls that feature a staggered stud design
are separated by a gap, insulation, and a layer of
sound board to minimize sound and vibrations.
"It makes all the difference in the world," Vasko says.
In addition, each home features a Delta waterproofing
membrane that is installed over top of the foundation
before it is backfilled. The durable barrier helps prevent
moisture from hitting the foundation and seeping into
the basement through snap ties or elsewhere.
They're affordable, attractive and built to last, and
Comack says he has no doubt that the demand for this
style of attached home in bedroom communities like
La Salle will continue to grow.
