2 Your Guide to Investors Group Field BROCK BULBUCK, CHAIR OF THE WINNIPEG FOOTBALL CLUB Message from BROCK BULBUCK, Chair, Winnipeg Football Club As we open the doors to Investors Group Field, we do so knowing that the future of our Club and our Team is very bright. Not only will our shiny, new state-of-the-art stadium, Canada's first in over 30 years, be enjoyed by all of us as fans, it will also help us attract the very best football players to Winnipeg. As we look to this new era with a sense of excitement, we do so knowing that our league is stronger than Congratulations to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on the opening of beautiful Investors Group Field. it has ever been, that we benefit from a hard working and committed management team, and that we have the very best fans and sponsors in the CFL. 'I THANK YOU, THE COMMUNITY, AND OUR FANS FOR YOUR ONGOING LOYALTY AND SUPPORT.' Over the past six years and more, the task of dreaming of, planning for, and building this new stadium has been immense. The people to thank are countless, though it must be said that our new facility may not have occurred without the vision and leadership of David Asper, the late Ken Hildahl, Bill Watchorn, University of Manitoba President David Barnard, Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz as well as Manitoba Premiers Gary Doer and Greg Selinger and many Winnipeg Football Club Board Members past and present. The collective determination and tireless efforts of all of these individuals must be acknowledged. On behalf of the entire Board of Directors, I thank you, the community, and our fans for your ongoing loyalty and support. Along with all of you, we look forward to cheering our team on to success in 2013, and to both hosting and winning a Grey Cup very soon. CFL COMMISSIONER MARK COHON This is clearly a milestone for your many fans, and all the people of Winnipeg and Manitoba. One of the finest facilities in North America, this is a testament to the power of sport to bring people together to accomplish great things. 'THIS IS A TESTAMENT TO THE POWER OF SPORT TO BRING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS.' It is also the latest chapter in a bold and exciting new era for the Canadian Football League – and period of growth fuelled by a stadium renaissance that is sweeping the country. Hamilton opens its new stadium in 2014.  Ottawa proudly returns to the CFL next year, with strong and progressive local ownership, in yet another completely refurbished stadium at Lansdowne Park. And the Saskatchewan Roughriders are planning construction of their new home, to open in 2017. Message from MARK COHON, Commissioner of the Canadian Football League This building boom follows on the heels of stadium improvements in other CFL cities, including the opening of the new BC Place in Vancouver. And it speaks to what the CFL is today: true to its traditions and authentic to its core, but also modern, innovative and built for a strong and prosperous future. The pride you feel today is shared throughout our league – and right across the country.
