Manitobaconvoy.com pandemic, the importance of a safe and healthy workplace has never been more vital. In 2020, a total of 745 people were trained through the program, mainly through a virtual approach due to the pandemic. "To say the least, the last year-and-a-half has been challenging. The pandemic forced us to pivot," Dolyniuk says. "Training used to be all personal interaction. We moved almost everything online, using virtual applications such as Zoom and Teams." Not only did most training programs change to online platforms, Dolyniuk says one of the biggest challenges was ensuring everyone had accurate, up-to- date information. The RPM program is proving to be effective, since SAFE Work Certified companies report 42 per cent lower total injury rates and 37 per cent lower injury costs per worker from WCB claims. In addition, 49 per cent fewer days are missed due to injuries. For employees at certified companies, they are generally more engaged and feel safer in their workplace. There's no rush to complete the components, since companies can work at their own pace to achieve the RPM certification, and there are no additional charges for any training. As an added benefit, RPM offers safety advisory services to support member companies — and even those that are working towards the certification. In addition, RPM advisors now offer indoor air quality testing and noise studies for registered companies as a free service to help identify problem areas.
