NEIGHBOURHOODS
GROW STRONGER
WHEN RESIDENTS
HAVE PRIDE OF
OWNERSHIP.
>> HABITAT FOR HUMANITY has been enriching
lives in Manitoba for more than 30 years, building affordable
homes that give working families an opportunity to flourish.
"It's a hand up, not a handout," is an oft-used phrase to
explain how Habitat families pay fair market prices for their
homes, investing 500 hours in sweat equity and putting 25%
of their annual income toward mortgages and taxes.
There's no catch-phrase to adequately describe
what a difference a stable home base makes.
Children do better in school, parents who aren't
stressed about paying rent — or moving from
one dilapidated home to another — can focus on
education, careers, family and community. And
neighbourhoods grow stronger when residents
have pride of ownership.
