A
fter a two-year absence,
people were really missing
the Manitoba 55+ Games.
That message was driven home early
in the New Year, says Karyn Heidrick,
Manitoba 55+ Games Coordinator.
"People started calling early this year
asking if the Games were going to be held
in-person," she recalls. "We received a lot
of inquiries."
Much to her delight, she was able to
answer in the affirmative.
To say the least, that news was very
welcome after the Games had to take a
two-year hiatus due to the never-ending
COVID-19 pandemic.
"Contestants are jazzed and are really
looking forward to seeing people they
haven't seen for two years," says Heidrick.
"Everyone really missed the in-person
version of the Games."
Little wonder, as the Games are as much
about camaraderie as they are about
competition.
While people enjoy the competition,
they may enjoy the socializing even more
– especially after the seemingly endless
winter that everyone has had to endure.
"We want to bring
everyone back together
to celebrate the Games
in a safe setting."
- Karyn Heidrick,
Manitoba 55+
Games Coordinator
