Our board chair, Ralph Oswald, our board of directors and the entire membership of the MHBA are proud of the many accomplish- ments of the association and Manitoba's residential construction industry in general. From our humble beginnings in 1937 to the current construction rates of over 8,000 new housing starts in a year, MHBA members provide Manitobans the finest quality in new home construction, home renovation work, materials, supplies and services offered by our industry. This year, the MHBA proudly received two national Association Leadership Awards from the Canadian Home Builders' Association. The MHBA was named the 2022 Home Builders' Association of the Year, an award that "rec- ognizes overall excellence by an HBA during 2021 in delivering a strong and positive voice for the housing industry, and in supporting the business success of members and their ability to provide affordability, quality and choice in housing for consumers." As well, we also received the 2022 Executive Officer of the Year award, which "recognizes an executive officer who has demonstrated excellence as the chief staff officer of an HBA, and who has effectively worked with volunteer leaders to create a strong and positive voice for the housing industry and led the HBA to effectively support the business success of members." These national awards are recogni- tion of tremendous work our association staff, volunteers, sponsors and partners have done to support and promote Manitoba's residential construction industry. Professionalism, leadership, stability and reliability, safety, quality, education and train- ing, and value are the core values of the MHBA and are demonstrated by our members. It is well known that the new homes built in Mani- toba by MHBA members are of tremendous quality. The projects completed by our MHBA renovator members are second to none as well. This is a source of pride for all in our industry. Manitoba builders continue to be ahead of the curve in areas such as building science, energy efficiency, safety certification and professional training. And despite ongoing challenges, af- fordability and choice remain at the forefront of our goals. We encourage everyone to look for the MHBA logo when choosing a residential construc- tion company, whether you are investing in building a new home, investing in a renovation project or choosing to use the same materials that the best builders in Canada use. Thank you for your continued support over the past 85 years and here's looking forward to a very bright future for our province.
