DESIGN WITH ENERGY
EFFICIENCY IN MIND
We offer expert design assistance and valuable rebates
for energy-efficient new homes built in Manitoba.

of Homes or learn more at efficiencyMB.ca/newhomes.
Homes built through the performance path of
Efficiency Manitoba's New Homes Program may
qualify for rebates between $1,500 and $12,000,
depending on how the design stacks up against
Natural Resources Canada's EnerGuide rating system.
Then, there are the savings on mortgage loan
insurance premiums, which most lenders require
homeowners to pay if their down payment is less
than 20% of their new home's purchase price.
Any home that qualifies for the New Homes Program,
whether it's a single-family home or a multi-family
dwelling, also qualifies for a mortgage loan insurance
premium rebate of 25% through the Canada
Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), Sagen
and Canada Guaranty.
Ongoing savings are a bonus, with up to $150 of
potential energy savings each month.
Over 20 years, a home that is certified
energy efficient also reduces carbon dioxide
emissions by 12 tonnes or more — that's the
equivalent of taking three cars off the road
and saving 1,220 trees from harvesting.
The New Homes Program's slogan is,
'Design with energy efficiency in
mind,' and more people are choosing to
do just that. The program has received
more than 500 applications since it
launched in 2020, and that number
continues to grow.
"It allows a completely customized
approach to new-home construction,"
Lund says. "You're being paid based on
the final performance of the building.
Every upgrade counts."
