>> IT'S NOT NEW to find
multi-generational families pooling
their resources to buy homes together
in Manitoba. Some builders have
been providing super-sized homes or
incorporating so-called granny flats for
many years, but the demand is definitely
growing.
Ventura Custom Homes has several new
homes that are designed to accommodate
multi-generational families. One Parade
entry at 333 Ken Oblik Dr. in Prairie Pointe
has five bedrooms, with an option to add
a sixth.
Private side entrances for basement suites
are popular and over the past few years,
main-floor bedrooms with full bathrooms
have become more common.
A Manak Homes show home at 478 Tyson
Trail in Devonshire Park has both options
— a main-floor bedroom and bath, plus
a separate entrance to the basement to
accommodate a secondary suite if the
buyer chooses to add one.
In Sage Creek, Hearth Homes' unique
Tudor-style show home at 276 Yellow
Moon Cres. has a flexible main-floor suite
that could also work as a private home
office, as well as three bedrooms and a loft
on the second floor.
And a laned A&S Homes model at 825
Boulevard De La Seigneurie in Bonavista
has been completed with a fully finished
basement specifically designed to show its
potential as a granny flat or income suite.
