MATCHING TEXTURES.

Here, Kosman offers five flattering ways to
"winterize" your home:
LAYER UP
While we're adding on the clothing layers,
why not do the same to our home? A cozy
vibe is best achieved through layering and
mixing-and-matching textures, Kosman
says. A chunky knit blanket paired with
a soft fleece throw pillow or a high pile
rug paired with a thin linen throw blanket
create a pleasing living-room space.
"Homeowners should also not be afraid to
add in textures referencing the season we
are in," she says.
Cases in point include chopped wood or
logs, and the on-trend pumpkin-shaped
pillows that are currently gracing the
shelves at HomeSense — and which
Kosman calls her "new fall obsession."
ADD SCENTS APPEAL
Whether it's via scented candles or more
muted (and natural) essential oils, a little
aromatherapy goes a long way when the
mercury drops.
"What aromatherapy adds to the home
is the sense of relaxation, well-being and
even healing," Kosman says. "It is a strong
tool for homeowners, especially in the
cooler months, for providing an inviting,
cozy and overall soothing environment."
Popular scents going into the holiday
season include cinnamon, pumpkin and
vanilla.
PILE ON THE GEOMETRIC RUGS ($300) AND KNIT THROW PILLOWS
(FROM $49), ALONG WITH A TEXTURED THROW (FROM $30).
ADD A ROUND COFFEE TABLE ($180) OR WICKER BAR CART ($150)
AND A PLUSH GOLD VELVET BEAN BAG ($200) FOR GUESTS.
