WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE >> BARBIE'S DREAMHOUSE has been inspiring child's play for 60 years. To celebrate that milestone, the oft-renovated dollhouse has supplied playful inspiration for HGTV Canada designer Tiffany Pratt and the paint-colour creators at BeautiTone. BeautiTone teamed up with toy company Mattel to create the 13-colour Barbie Dreamhouse Colour Collection, and Pratt (Home To Win, Family Home Overhaul) used the collection to decorate a houseful of rooms designed to appeal to all ages. Along with a living room decorated in garish Barbie pink and softer tones of Dreamhouse pink, Pratt styled a grownup living room that's heavy on a neutral called So Glam, with Fashionista black window trim and a splash of cheery Glow Up yellow. BeautiTone describes Glow Up as, "a radiant yellow that is as bright as Barbie's dreams (and) adds a burst of sunshine to a playroom." A bathroom vanity is painted Beach Day green and a foyer has Self-Care pink doors and walls painted in Career Goals blue, which is, "a muted blue that brings a sense of calmness and offers a more sophisticated transformation in any room." Livin' the dream with Barbie-inspired paint colours The collection includes a moody Style Icon grey, bright Yes I Can purple and a blue-green tone called Believe Big, along with a creamy white dubbed Current Mood. Sold at Home Hardware stores, the Canadian- owned BeautiTone brand is making the colour available in several types of paint for a variety of applications. PAINT IT BLACK BeautiTone's exterior colour of the year for 2022 is similar to Barbie's Fashionista black. Called Ebony, the exterior paint is inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese techniques for preserving wood — the Scandinavian technique relies on black tar, while the Japanese technique involves fire. Ebony is available in paint and wood stain. POH 130 Parade of Homes FALL 2022
