Manitoba 17 "In some communities, stray dogs wander in packs and are exposed to the elements. Packs of dogs can create a dangerous situation for people, or these animals may become injured and need immediate medical attention. Medical intervention may not be accessible in these areas and can be very costly," Dr. Bowen says. In 2022 the WHS partnered with 25 remote communities in Manitoba and completed 896 spay and neuter surgeries in these communities. Donations help subsidize the cost of the surgeries and cover the costs of veterinary and support staff, equipment, supplies and medications, as well as transportation.
