HOMES FALL 2023
Using warmer colours is currently the
biggest trend for both exterior and
interior painting.
"There is a play now in exterior
design, which basically sees home
design lean into more contemporary
styling," Wadden says.
"With warmer colours and natural
hues, it doesn't look institutional but
warm and soft — clean minimalism,
architectural structure. It's an interest-
ing interplay between modern design
concepts and warmer colours and
natural material."
But there's more to making these
decisions.
"It's important to consider the loca-
tion that you're in. Maybe if you're
in a historic region, sometimes a
more historic colour scheme on the
outside of the home is important and
it kind of tells the story of the home,"
Wadden says of blending in with the
environment.
But what was old can be new again
since some colour schemes are back
in style.
"Surprisingly, the combination of
all-white exteriors with dark pops
of colour, like black or bronze, has
really gained momentum. We're
seeing that continue — so much so
that white has replaced grey as our
top-selling colour for exteriors and
interiors," Wadden says.
