They set policy direction, so now government is directly involved in code develop- ment. When codes come out, hope- fully they get adopted fairly quickly because we're part of that process," he said. "That agreement also established that the 2020 codes were adopted within 24 months and that any future model code is adopted within 18 months. So when the 2025 codes are released, every province and territory has a commitment to adopt it within 18 months." The Manitoba Home Builders' Association is a national partner that participates in an advisory committee to this board. Kasprick encourages others to get involved and educated as well. "The national codes have public consultations four times per year. We're driving people to be part of the process at the national level when it's being developed," he says. "That way, when it's published, it's an easy transition for provinces to adopt it. After it's published, it's very hard for provinces to make changes because that process has already happened — so be a part of it."
