The first series was just a taste of GameBiz Lab, with an extended program launching this fall that will expand the education and consulting to include valuable consulta- tion with industry experts, the ability to book New Media Manitoba's workspaces and monthly co-working sessions as part of a community cohort. Applications to join the cohort will be accepted soon at newmediamanitoba.com, and speakers from the industry who are interested in presenting can also apply. GameBiz Lab is supported by the Province of Manitoba, the Canada Media Fund and Ubisoft. "The Manitoba government is excited to see the energy New Media Manitoba brings to the video game industry in our province," says Jamie Moses, Minister of Economic Development, Investment and Trade and Natural Resources. "Programs like GameBiz Lab continue to shape the talent here by building capacity and growing the cre- ativity and economic impact of the sector." Jessica Lea Fleming, director of growth and inclusion at the Canada Media Fund, concurs. "New Media Manitoba's GameBiz Lab is an outstanding example of their commitment to mentorship, community building and the limitless potential found in technol- ogy," she says. "We know this program will continue to have a tangible impact on the interactive digital media industry in Manitoba and across the country." The upcoming fall session has also garnered financial support from Ubisoft Winnipeg — a huge name in the industry. "We are incredibly excited to support GameBiz Lab and the thriving video game community in Manitoba," says Julien Lavoie, director of corporate affairs at Ubisoft. "There is immense talent here, and this program is an opportunity to further nurture the ecosystem's growth in the province, providing studios with invaluable knowl- edge, skills, resources and mentorship."
