It's something I discovered 20 years ago when I moved here from Alberta. Manitobans make the most of every season, but summer is where we shine. Lakes and rivers draw us to the water — even if we're just sipping a beverage or watching kids play on a beach. While there are fantastic things to see and do, friends and family are the true gems of this province. My lake is a great example of this. A walk on a gravel road meant to last 15 minutes can take two hours after stopping to chat with everyone who emerges just to shoot the breeze. e pace is slow. e friendships are real. e feeling is causal. Manitoba's drop-in mentality is one of the reasons it makes sense to stock up on essentials that can swiftly be turned into an inviting party platter.
