Sangria
A GIFT FROM THE OLD WORLD
Sangria
Sangria has solid roots in the past. The name stems
from "sangre" — or "blood" in Spanish — inspired by
the red wine used in its creation.
Many stories point to the origins of this lovely elixir
dating as far back as 2,000 years ago. As recipes of the
first Sangrias didn't exist, some historians feel linking
the beverage back thousands of years is folklore. But
many, such as iconic European crystal glass producer
Riedel, have their own explanation of its roots. They
recount a tale of Sangria originating in Rome and
arriving on the shores of Portugal and Spain due to
historic battles and travels.
