FALL 2024 PARADE of HOMES 133 – AMRIT MANAK MANAK HOMES' OWNER AND CHIEF DESIGNER "We put in a side entrance. It blends in nicely with the rest of the home, and if people want to rent the home or have family live with them, they have the option of having a private side entrance." ❖ MANAK HOMES – AMRIT MANAK MANAK HOMES' OWNER AND CHIEF DESIGNER uffice it to say the Averland, Manak Homes' 2024 Fall Parade of Homes entry at 350 Emberwell St. in Summerlea, balances those elements to perfection, starting with its exterior. "It took a lot of hard work, but I think we achieved our goal both outside and inside the home," says Manak Homes' owner and chief designer Amrit Manak. "The home has a nice curb appeal to it." While taupe and grey brick trim and a soft grey siding give the 1,674-square-foot, two-storey home a rustic feel right off the hop, some subtle modern touches bring it into the 21st century. For starters, there's the white trimmed windows with a subtle black inlay that really makes them pop on the siding, which is just the perfect shade of grey. Then there's the side of the home, which features a special — and very modern — design touch. "We put in a side entrance," Manak says. "It blends in nicely with the rest of the home, and if people want to rent the home or have family live with them, they have the option of having a private side entrance. Most importantly, it doesn't add much to the cost of the home." That strong commitment to function flows through into the Averland's foyer, which is plenty big and has a powder room and door to the garage to its right. There's also an abundance of style, too, since the upper-level staircase is framed perfectly by black spindles set in vibrant white railing — again, an ode to the home's modern farm- house theme. Walk into the home's main living area, and it's clear much thought was given to both the area's layout and design mix. Even though the home is a touch under 1,700 square feet, it feels larger due to the use of nine- foot ceilings on the main floor, huge windows and a free-flowing, open-concept layout.
