DAY 5 Travel north to Lake Winnipeg and Hecla Island Provincial Park. Check in to the newly reopened Lakeview Hecla Resort and jump right into relaxation with a treatment at the resort's Salka Spa, which offers a full range of spa treatments and massages. Lakeview Hecla Resort After your treatment take a hike along the shore to the light house or explore the Hecla Heritage Village, which traces the history of the Icelandic settlement in the area. Spend the night at the resort after enjoying dinner at Seagull's Restaurant. DAY 6 Back in Winnipeg, the Nordik Spa-Nature in the south end of the city is set to open in the fall of 2013. This Scandinavian-style spa features a circuit of Nordic baths that alternate hot and cold water to eliminate toxins and restore spirits. The spa also features dry heat saunas, invigorating body treatments as well as massages and an on-site restaurant featuring local products. Spend the morning visiting the shops in the marketplace or rent a pair of skates to explore the frozen River Trail. Honouring The Forks as a traditional Aboriginal gathering place going back thousands of years, hot river stones are used in many of the spa's treatments, including the Riverstone Signature Indigenous Hot Stone Massage. It offers a respectful sample of Aboriginal traditions, from sage and cedar used to cleanse and purify to covering the client with a star quilt.
