Organizing Tips That New Home Look Keep your own show home clutter-free with these organizing tips By Lindsey Ward >> What's the easiest way to avoid clutter in your brand new home? Simple: Don't let it through the door. Sound easier said than done? Then it might be worth putting in a call to For Space Sake owner Pauline Boisselle, who's been de-cluttering homes for nearly 25 years. While she says it's ideal to weed through your stuff and only bring what you need into your new home, that's hardly the norm. "People have trouble parting with things, and it just makes for so much clutter," Boisselle says, adding that many people tend to impulse-buy too many items — like the same T-shirt in five different colours — just because they're on sale. An increase in blended families also leaves many households with two of everything. "People have divorced and they've both got kids and all of a sudden they're getting married and putting two houses into one." Boisselle knows how to spot organizational problems, and she's just the woman to solve them. Since its 1989 inception, For Space Sake on Grant Avenue has grown from a store carrying a variety of smaller organizing products into more of a millwork house. These days, Boisselle often teams up with home builders to create move-in ready cabinets, drawers, shelves, cubbies and other creative de-cluttering solutions. "I am like the cabinet-maker now," she laughs. 122 Parade of Homes Fall 2013
