>> With demand for housing still high in northwest Winnipeg, a new cutting-edge community is stepping up to fill the void. Waterford Green will occupy a 160-acre site at the corner of Dr. Jose Rizal Way (Keewatin Street) and Old Commonwealth Path (Adsum Drive). Over the next seven to 10 years it's expected that about 1,000 new homes will be added to the area. Century 21 Bachman & Associates' Greg Grewal, who represents Trademark Homes — one of the community's preferred builders — says the development will bring exciting new features to the Maples. "Waterford Green will be different than other communities in the area in that it's going to introduce modern new features that are really going to cater to peoples' wants and needs," he says. "For example, the architectural controls will help builders offer new styles and finishes that will really capture the imagination of people, especially families." 'It will feature 19 acres of trails and parks centered on a naturalized, two-lake retention system. Over time, amenities will grow to include a three-acre village centre and a nursery to Grade 8 school.' David Palubeski, project manager and president of Lombard North Group – which is collaborating with Terrascape Developments Ltd. and the Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corp. on the project – says Waterford Green will be unlike any other community in the city's northwest quadrant. "It's specifically designed for families," he says. "By providing a range of housing options and price points – as well as access to quality recreational, commercial and educational amenities, all within a walkable neighbourhood – there is truly going to be something for everyone." Richard Mahe, principal and senior planner for Lombard North Group, says it will feature 19 acres of trails and parks centered on a naturalized, two-lake retention system. Over time, amenities will grow to include a three-acre village centre and a nursery to Grade 8 school. Cont'd on page 136 Parade of Homes Fall 2013 135
