"Condos are becoming standard fare for entry-level
housing in all the greenfield land development projects.
As a result, people are more readily accepting them as a
normal housing option than they may have in the past."
Ventura has a bungalow-style condo — complete with
its own garage, deck, island kitchen and master en suite
— entered in the Parade of Homes at 28 Prairie View
Cove at Wheatland Park in Dugald.
It also has a new condo project in Osborne Village on
Stradbrook Avenue featuring an open-concept design,
in-suite laundry, large balconies and ample closet space.
Over the next 10 years, Comack predicts that more and
more buyers will see the benefits of living in an urban
setting. Pedestrian-friendly areas such as Osborne Vil-
lage and Corydon Village will be hot spots for multi-
family homes.
"There are more condo mega-projects planned than
Winnipeg has ever seen," he says. "Our downtown and
urban communities are showing signs of revitalization."
Buyers see many benefits to living close to the places
where they spend most of their time.
>> There's no place like home. But the
concept of home is changing as Win-
nipeg's condo market continues to gain
ground.
Tim Comack, vice-
president of devel-
opment for Ventura
Land Co. and Ventura
Developments, has
noticed the trend
swinging away from
single-family homes.
Whether it's in the
city centre or an outlying area, the percep-
tion of condo living is experiencing a posi-
tive transformation.
"Condos provide a community feel, and
people are looking for that feeling of be-
longing and knowing their neighbours,"
Comack says.
