"Being able to walk out the door and head to a coffee shop, yoga, the grocery store, a pub is a great amenity. It saves people the most impor- tant thing that we all have very little of — time," Comack says. "The Echo or Millennial Generation understands how important that balance can be, and they look at condos as one way to help them achieve that balance. Boomers are starting to figure it out too. Naturally they want to spend less time mowing lawns or worrying about keeping up a home and more time at the lake, down south or travelling. I can't blame them." Manitoba Home Builders' Association president Mike Moore says multi-family homes — condos as well as townhomes and apartments — made up 30-35% of the new home mar- ket 10 years ago, but they're gaining in popularity. "These past two years, multi-family made up 50% of the new homes in the Winnipeg market. So they have become considerably more popular."
