"You can invite the outdoors in with
large panes of glass," says Sean Phillips,
branch manager of All Weather Win-
dows.
It's not surprising that floor-to-ceiling
and wall-of-windows features are be-
coming more popular as new homes

features like A-
frame designs
and vaulted
ceilings.
"There are stan-
dard window
sizes, but hon-
estly, we custom-size as many units as
we do standard," Phillips says. "It's easy
to specially size a window and we do it
all the time."
And with the latest technology, it's easi-
er than ever to create specialty windows
that make the most of your living space
and don't limit you to a cookie-cutter
look. Design options include transoms,
decorative grills and tinting that pro-
vides privacy and increases energy ef-
ficiency in the summer months. Bay
windows can have sections that open
and homeowners can choose awning
openings that swing outward or glider
windows that slide open from the top,
the bottom or from both directions.
Lauren Sabeski of Jeld-Wen Windows
says pre-finished vinyl coverings on ex-
terior window frames are maintenance
free and they come in a variety of co-
lours that enhance your home's curb
appeal.
Older homes can also benefit from inno-
vations in window design and construc-
tion. Most window specialists can work
with homeowners to replace old, drafty
windows with energy-efficient options
that will maintain the character of your
home while refreshing its look.
