>> The design of the new Boulevard home style in Sage Creek is striking and distinctive with its richness of architectural detail, stone re- taining wall and steps, and wrought iron fence. "Some people gravitate to the design because they prefer not to see a garage out front. It's reminiscent of the character homes you see in Crescentwood. Once people get inside, they see how functional the space is and that the design takes into consideration how people like to live," says Debra Mosher of Broadview Homes. Sage Creek, just south of Bishop Grandin and east of Lagimodière, is known for its diversity of home design. The diversity includes everything from large, custom walkouts on the wetlands to Boulevard homes to apartment condominiums by the Village Centre. The quality of home de- sign has become one of the hallmarks of Sage Creek, as each home must adhere to the com- munity's architectural guidelines. The result has been unique and pleasing streetscapes. Debra Mosher is a resident herself and says an- other aspect that contributes to Sage Creek's wonderful feel is that it's not set up on a grid system. "The streets are curvaceous and wind around several wetlands" that provide amazing vistas throughout the community. aFFordaBiLiTY appeaLs There are several different Boulevard floor plans available that offer plenty of choice in how each home is configured. Options include open-con- cept or partitioned rooms, main-floor laundry, different sizes of rooms and other possibilities. Features of Boulevard homes include their compact, low-maintenance front and back yards. The backyards, about 20 feet deep, are just right for a patio and barbecue or a small view garden. "These homes appeal to people who want a new home with all its functionality but not the work of a huge yard," states Jason Jaquet of Randall Homes. "It gives them more freedom to go to the lake or on trips." He adds that re- sponse to the Boulevard home style has been "very good." Mosher agrees, saying, "The Boulevard home style is a big hit. One reason is because it an- swers an important question for many people and that is, what's affordable?" This handsome home style ranges in size from about 1,600 to 1,750 square feet and in price from approximately $350,000 to $375,000. In addition to the lot and home, the price in- cludes the GST, front yard landscaping and a rear-detached garage. Jaquet stresses that these homes provide exceptional value for the square footage. "There's lots of room; the homes are three- bedroom two-storeys with two and a half baths. Each has a basement that can be de- veloped as well." The homes have proven suitable for a mix of buyers, says Jaquet, citing "single executive women, empty-nesters and families. The lo- cation on Edward Turner Drive is really good. It's close to the new school that's going up in Sage Creek so if you do buy there, your kids can walk to school, which is a nice plus." With its parks, wetlands, ball diamond, soccer pitch, basketball court, extensive trail system and more to come, Sage Creek already has much to offer its residents. "The walking trails are fantastic. Almost any- where you live here is near a trail," Mosher says. The trails converge on the Village Centre with all of its new amenities including a Sobeys, Tim Hortons, banks, vet, gas station and many other stores and services. Mosher and Jaquet concur that Sage Creek is a "very well thought-out community." Both have Boulevard show homes open in Sage Creek that are included in the Spring Parade of Homes.
