How to Use QR Codes to Enhance Your Parade Experience
The unique pattern of blocks represents coded information.
Using your phone, you can access this hidden information with the touch of a button.
Using this code, you will get to decide the winners of the 2014 Spring Parade of Homes.
What is a QR Code?
Each Parade home will feature a poster with a large QR code. By downloading and using a QR code scanner
on your mobile phone, you can go directly to the rating page for the corresponding home in seconds.
How Does it Work?
How Can I Download a QR Code Scanner? (all of these example apps are free)
Before you leave for the Parade of Homes, download a QR code scanner for twice the fun
• Go to the application store for your mobile device.
1. For iPhone and Android: press "Search"
2. Type "QR" into the search bar.
3. Select the QR application and press "Free"
(iPhone) or "Install" (Android) to download.
Verify your ID by entering your device
password.
• For BlackBerry: click "Apps"
1. Type "QR" into the search bar
(call up the search bar by pressing the magnifying glass)
2. Select "All"
3. Select the QR code application
4. Click the "Download" button, verify your BlackBerry
password and click OK.
• Find the icon on your list of applications and open it.
• The app will open like a camera. In the middle of your view, you will see four translucent corners
forming a square.
• Move your phone until the QR code is in the centre of the square.
• As soon as the QR code is inside the square, you will be automatically taken to the rating page.
How Do I Use the Scanner?
• Once you are on the home's rating page, select one (lowest) to five (highest) stars in each category.
• Click submit – and you are done!
