The Manitoba Camping Association (MCA) is the organization that ensures organized camps provide kids and families with fun and safe opportunities. The MCA was established in 1937 to promote organized camp as a healthy activity for kids and families. "We're the association that's here to support children's camps," said Liz Kovach, executive director of the MCA. "We help them make sure they are abiding by provincial laws and standards. We pull everything together and make sure camps all follow standards." The MCA is a registered charity that raises awareness and promotes the benefits of camp for all children, works with government agencies on regulations, sets best practices for camps and provides camp fee subsidies for children from low-income families through their Sunshine Fund. The MCA also acts as the accrediting body for Manitoba Camps. To become endorsed by MCA, camps must agree to abide not just by mandatory provincial laws and regulations, but meet or exceed standards set out in the MCA Standard Manual, which covers MCA aims to change lives with summer camp experience The MCA raises awareness about the benefits of camp, sets best practices for camps and provides camp fee subsidies for children from low-income families.
