"women are opting to stay home more often than they're opting to go out these days. our time is so stretched that there's a need to put the focus back on friend time." passion parties have been held at homes, res- taurants and bars, but no matter the venue, all ordering is done in a private room. gower chose the name vicki's Secrets intentionally — all of her orders are kept strictly confidential. "providing that discretion is a big part of what we do. women always think they know exactly what their friends like, but they're wrong," she said. "Society is changing and people are getting more comfortable talking about sex." You can also order from vicki online at www.vickisecrets.ca. carolyne Braid teaches women to discover their inner diva with her dancing diva parties. "our parties are an op- portunity for women to come together, no matter what the occasion. it's a fun way to con- nect for a night," said Braid. "we're super flexible. we've hosted in homes, partnered with a number of different nightclubs and restaurants, and we have a studio as well." what does one do at a dancing diva party? Braid and her staff teach women how to pole dance, chair dance, or rock some burlesque moves. "Some people are definitely more comfortable watching, but we tell them this isn't a spectator event. everyone is encouraged to get up and let their hair down, to dance without reservation," Braid added. "we're really good at making sure everyone feels comfortable and confident. what happens at a dancing diva party stays at a danc- ing diva party." Braid originally got the idea for her business when she saw an oprah show on pole dancing many years ago. intrigued, she bought her own pole and decided she was having so much fun that she would encourage other women to try it as well. "we have a party format that will work for any- one," said Braid. "we've hosted red hat Society parties and birthday parties for 17-year-olds to 50-year-olds, but 80 per cent of our business is bachelorettes." party participants are taught eight to 10 dif- ferent dance moves. at the end of the night, everyone has the chance to put on her own show. each party is two hours long. "we've got poles that will work with any kind of ceil- ing," Braid said. You can contact her at www.dancingdivaparties.ca. private lessons are also available.
