Damned If you Do features a duet with Willie nelson, and derek's recent influence comes from a unique mix of soul, blues and country, "hillbilly Soul with some Mohawk swagger." he's also been awarded "Best Blues cd" at the 2012 and 2013 aboriginal Peoples choice Music awards. his eclectic taste and dynamism is a welcomed addition to the event, and he's returning to the Winnipeg stage this year. MICHELLE THRUSH Main STaGe co-hoST Michelle Thrush is an epitome of a role model for aboriginal Peoples in canada. She's an accomplished actor and continuously gives back to her community. She makes it a priority to engage and work with youth through the arts. Michelle brings her award-winning presence to the main stage with an extensive background in film, television and theatre. her achievements include 2012 and 2014 alberta Film & Television awards (formerly The Rosies) for "Best Performance by an alberta actress," and she was appointed 2012 "alberta aboriginal Role Model of the Year." Many know Michelle for her portrayal of Gail Stoney from the ground-breaking and award- winning aPTn dramatic series, Blackstone. in 2011, she was awarded a Gemini award for "Best Performance by an actress in a continuing leading dramatic Role." She's compelled to share her experience for the empowerment of the people.
