Bon Voyageur Toques, beards and iconic voyageur sashes are always in fashion at Western Canada's biggest winter party, Festival du Voyageur (www.festivalvoyageur.mb.ca) Feb. 13-22, 2015. The fur- trading post of Fort Gibraltar is the epicentre of the rollicking celebration of French, Métis and First Nations culture, but the soiree spills over to venues throughout St. Boniface, across Winnipeg and into rural Manitoba. Belly up to the Snow Bar for a taste of the fortified wine known as caribou and get your fill of pea soup, tourtière and joie de vivre. There are beard-growing, jigging and fiddle contests, an international snow sculpture competition and wall-to-wall entertainment and activities. One of North America's top 100 tourist destinations, the festival draws close to 100,000 visitors. Book a package tour with Manitoba's Ô Tours (www.otours.net). LiveLy gatherings 14 Festival du voyageur – Feb 13-22, 2015 There's something about this place that makes you want to celebrate. Something that makes you want to sing and dance and cheer. Something that makes you crowd the streets, pack the bleachers, and blow the roof right off. We'll throw a festival for anything that brings us together.
