In the 1941 Marx Brothers movie, The Big Store, a boisterous family with 12 chil-
dren troop into a department store to buy a bed. The paunchy patriarch explains
to Chico, "Me and my family, we live in a two-room apartment and all I can see is
beds, beds, beds and believe me ... I got no room for anything else!"
