The opportunities extend beyond the company's agricultural realm, with careers available in areas such as sales and marketing, accounting, commercial business, engineering, product development and public relations, to nameafew. "The job that you have when you begin your career at Cargill is no indication of where you should expect to see yourself in a few years because there's constant room for career improvement and opportunities. Cargill really promotes personal development plans for its employees," Burgoynesaid. "We have a network of internal mentors that we really encourage employees to reach out to and utilize. When you speak to your manager about where you'd like to see yourself in two years or five years, your manager will help youdeveloparobustdevelopmentplan." If more education is required to move into a different field, Cargill offers an internal program called Nourishing U. This program provides more than 600 free training courses that help employees to better prepare themselves for career opportunities within thecompany. "The mentorship opportunities also extend out to the industry,"Burgoyneadded. "We work with a lot of industry associations where employees can build those connections and learn more about Cargill's role in the entire supply chain rather than justwhatthey'reexposedtowithintheirownbusiness." The company also offers a flexible work arrangement policy, along with competitive benefits and a healthy work environment. "In the Winnipeg office, we have an onsite gym and exercise facility that employees have access to as well as avarietyoflunch-hourclassesincludingZumba,yogaand Pilates. We also bring in an onsite massage therapist that employeescanbookduringbusinesshoursincaseit'stoo challengingforthemtofindthattimeoncethey'vereached home,"Burgoynesaid. "We look for any opportunity to facilitate and create a more all-inclusive healthy work environment. We're always open to opportunities to learn more about what we can do forouremployees." With a focus on safety, Cargill is concerned with the wellbeingofeveryoneinvolvedinthebusiness. "We are a company where it is a top priority to ensure that we are creating safe work environments, not only for our employees but for our customers and our contractors and everyone that we touch within the supply chain," Burgoynesaid. Diversity and inclusion are other key considerations in the workplace, enhanced through the recently launched women's network. As well, the Cargill Cares Councils consist of employee-led volunteer groups that work with partnerswithinthecommunity. "Wetendtofocusonorganizationsthatshareourvision ofcreatinghealthy,thrivingcommunities.Withinthatfocus, we tend to align ourselves in the areas of food security and nutrition, education and environmental sustainability," Burgoynesaid. "We have established very strong partnerships with key organizations in the province, and we've been managing these relationships for years. These initiatives lead to a positive work environment for Cargill's team, whether they're located in Manitoba or acrosstheglobe.
