"A lot have some kind of texture to
them — they're made of stamped
metal or they're cast with fair
amounts of relief in them — so
when you light across it, you get
areas that are in light and areas in
shadow, which looks really interest-
ing."
Not surprisingly — given our fond-
ness for making the most of our
time outdoors — there are also a
lot of natural elements to be found
in exterior and landscape designs,
whether seeded and water glass
shades, or walkway lights with
toadstool-like domes. Many home-
owners are also planning ahead for
in-ground landscape lights, which
of course are also available in LED
form.
"It's Winnipeg, and we love our sum-
mers, so I think we'll be seeing that
more and more," says Robinson of
the in-ground trend.
"It also looks really nice in the win-
ter, because the snow starts to glow.

The only issue is LED doesn't always burn hot
enough, so if they don't melt the snow all the
way, you might have to get out there and dig
them out yourself."
