Due to the phenomenal success of last year's show, we are once again offering FREE ADMISSION for this year's event. The event will again be held at the Victoria Inn, located at 1808 Wellington Avenue. The Victoria Inn offers free parking and is located near a bus stop. The show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and there will be food available for purchase onsite. If you have questions about housing options and services available to older Manitobans, the answers can be found at this event. The Expo showcases exhibitors knowledgeable in housing and support services for older adults. The event will include exhibitors representing housing facilities, care facilities, senior living communities, housing support services, financial services, moving and storage options, realtors, transportation options, home safety and security, programs that promote active lifestyles and various public and not-for-profit agencies that provide services or assistance related to older adults. The Expo will include several educational presentations on issues that are of importance to older adults. Lawyers from Taylor McCaffrey LLP will be discussing legal topics such as wills and estates and real estate and condominium law. Norm Brown, CLC (Certified Lighting Consultant as per the American Lighting Association), will be coming in from B.C. to deliver a presentation called Aging Eyes. Brown will discuss what the eye goes through with age, and how to light your home for visual comfort and safety as you age. New for this year, comedian Jon Ljungberg will entertain attendees with a stand-up comedy performance at noon. In the afternoon, Mark Rzepka, president of Winnipeg Gold Buyer, will give a presentation entitled, Are You Sitting on a Gold Mine? A & O's main booth will provide information on its many specialized services for older adults. Representatives from the SafetyAid: Crime and Falls Prevention for Older Manitobans program will be on hand to provide information on how to access free home safety and falls audits. A & O's Housing Program will also have the Winnipeg Housing Directory for Older Adults available for sale.
