Currently some 50 volunteers work alongside hospital coordinator Tiffany Lui, who has a degree in zoology, to determine treatment and send as many animals as possible back to Mother Nature. "If it's beyond our scope, she will consult with a vet that we have on standby," Perron says. Last fall, a local resident found a three- or four-month-old bobcat, very thin and weak. It was brought to the centre and kept in isolation with minimum human contact. "It has made a full recovery, is in very good health and roars like a lion!" Perron says. "It will be released back to the wild towards the end of May." continued on page 35 >>
