Every shimmer... an emotion. A new concept in jewellry design, Pulse TM suspends a stunning center stone in a unique and patented quiver setting. One animal that is currently non-releasable is Jett the "Talking Crow." Jett got a lot of media attention, including a call from the Discovery Channel, after he started saying, "Hello," imitating the voice of one of the caring volunteers. In addition to dedicated volunteers, university students get hands-on experience as part of their studies. Two students have been hired to formulate new programming this summer. Right now, the public can only see the animals face to beak (or snout) when the wildlife ambassadors are taken out into the community, but Perron says that will change when the new facility is built with a public education component. "We see ourselves as an important tourist destination, although the hospital side will remain isolated from the public," he says. "We'll be the only place in the province with a bricks-and- mortar building dedicated to a wildlife haven." Shovels will be in the ground at a sod-turning ceremony on June 4. The goal is to be in the building by December, but fundraising efforts are ongoing. To learn more, visit www.wildlifehaven.ca. ■ << continued from page 33 e a s t e r n
