I t's also the energy and the ambiance that each person brings to Aboriginal Day Live & Celebration (ADL&C) because it's really by the People for all People. And for the past nine years folks have flocked to The Forks to welcome the warmth of the summer solstice and celebrate Canada's Indigenous Peoples. APTN couldn't do it without you! ADL&C has continually grown and the event was given nods for the 'Aboriginal Tourism Award' at the 17 th Annual Manitoba Tourism Awards last year! With award-winning recognition comes a rise in expectation for what will be delivered, and every year the APTN family puts its heads together and masterminds another event to lift your spirits, or stir your soul. First off, the Celebration Village opens at 11 a.m. and it's free — just bring yourself, your family and your pals. So, what's new to the celebration? APTN Kids Zone and the Qannik Bouncer for all families! The little ones will be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed when they discover their own dedicated play space — APTN Kids Zone! It's an animated and fun-filled area, and front and centre is the Qannik Bouncer. What or who is Qannik? He's a talking polar bear, and he's a friend to all on APTN Kids! Keep an eye out for Qannik because he can't be missed. There will also be face painting, colouring, games and prizes, cultural crafts and much more. WhAT Does The LArgesT CeLeBrATioN of NATioNAL ABorigiNAL DAy LooK AND souND LiKe? It's more than song, dance, drummIng and musIc. By SHeldoN MCRAe, APTN CoMMuNICATIoNS CooRdINAToR >>
