ON BEHALF OF MITT, TO ALL Wewishyoueverysuccessinyourchosenindustry!"-PaulHolden, PresidentandCEO,ManitobaInstituteofTradesandTechnology She was known as Tess, Tessy Bear, Taz, Tessa and Granny. Her real name was Tatia Ulm and she was 39 years old when she was brutally murdered in Winnipeg. Tatia was last seen associating with and leaving the residence of persons known for selling drugs at approximately 2:30 or 3:00 am on the morning of May 9, 2005. At about 6:30 am that same morning, Tatia's badly beaten body was located in a garbage bin in the back lane of Stella Avenue in Winnipeg. Having been involved with drugs since the age of 15, Tatia struggled with addiction throughout her life. While Tatia was in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, due to addiction and unemployment she was exploited in the survival sex trade like many others. Tatia was using drugs heavily in the days prior to her murder and came into contact with many people. She was 5' 1" tall, about 105 pounds, with blue eyes and shoulder length brown hair. In July 2012, Project Devote, the joint task force with the Winnipeg Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police which focuses on missing and murdered exploited persons' investigations, assumed responsibility for this investigation and continues to investigate this crime. Investigators are asking for anyone in the community who has information about Tatia Ulm or her murder, to contact them on the Project Devote tipline at 1-888-673- 3316. If you prefer to remain anonymous, you can call Manitoba CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) Project Devotee. Missed an issue?
