Sites include one-room school and former CNR station. p: 204-835-2341 Roblin ASESSIPPI TOWNSITE The Asessippi Townsite was established in 1882 by the Shell River Colonization Company. When the railway failed to pass through the town, the inhabitants resettled in Roblin. Today, all that remains are the ruins of abandoned buildings. A commemorative plaque recalls the history of the town. Keystone Pioneers Museum features pioneer agricultural artifacts, large collection of old machinery, log cabin used by forest rangers in Duck Mountain Provincial Park, Makaroff Church built in 1901, working sawmill and more. The Artifacts Building houses various theme rooms including hospital, general store, school, café, printing press. Opening Day, the last Sunday in May, includes a Pancake Breakfast. Show Day, July 10, 2011, includes threshing, log sawing, flour gristing, bread making, slow tractor race, vintage parade and more. Open May to September, 1 – 5 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Also houses firefighting equipment, war uniforms and local history. Open daily May to September. Other times by appointment. Donations accepted. location: Cheddar Ave. p: 204-859-2762, 204-859-2429 (weekends) e: town.rsb@mts.net KEYSTONE PIONEERS MUSEUM b Near Rossburn visit a mass grave and monument commemorating the Ukrainian settlement in Canada and where in 1899, 42 persons succumbed to scarlet fever. Designed in the spirit of old world architecture are: Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, and Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Assumption of the Virgin Mary, St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church. Churches open by appointment. MARCONI SCHOOL Marconi School, built in 1922, is open spring to fall.
