50 MANITOBA GLASS FACTORY (PHS) Manitoba Glass Factory, the site of the first glass container factory in Western Canada which operated from 1906 to 1914 and employed up to 350 workers. It produced bottles for breweries and soft drink companies in Winnipeg, serving the Prairie market. Visitors may explore the ruins of the site and the nearby Chryplywy Nature Park. location: southwest outskirts of Beausejour Brokenhead TOMMY PRINCE SCHOOL Tommy Prince School, on the Brokenhead First Nation, is named after Manitoba's most decorated Aboriginal war veteran, Sergeant Thomas Prince. Prince was one of many Aboriginal soldiers who left their homes to serve Canada during the Second World War and the Korean War. location: Hwy. 59 HERITAGE MUSEUM Cooks Creek COOKS CREEK Cooks Creek Heritage Museum is situated in the oldest Galician settlement in western Canada. The seven buildings include a restored barn and blacksmith shop, pioneer homes, candle house and chapel. Dedicated to early pioneers from Slavic Europe. Heritage Day (August).
